Five Calls & HR 32

Hello,

I’m trying to pull myself out of a whirlpool of overwhelm, rage, and despair. Trump’s executive orders have impacted my life, professionally and personally. I’m exhausted. And, also, I want to start sharing some ideas and resources here on this blog. These posts will be on the shorter side, and maybe less polished than usual, but they will exist!

Today I have two things to share.

One is an app someone else introduced me too called 5 Calls. It helps you learn about political issues your congresspeople are voting on, provides you with their contact info, and even gives you a script you can use for the call. Look wherever you get your apps for “5 Calls.

Second, once you get that app, call your house rep and ask them to vote against HR-32, which you can read about here. You can and should do this even if your rep is Republican. The more our leaders hear from us, the more they know what we think.

To close, here’s a poem that a wonderful superhero of a librarian shared with me awhile back, a poem about making a connection in a chaotic world: Naomi Shihab Nye’s “Gate A-4.”

Thanks Kim for alerting me to this app. Just uploaded it and made a few calls. Makes me feel a little less helpless in these scary times.

thanks for this info Kim, as we all look for the ways to counteract, impede, and ultimately defeat the inhumanity of what’s happening
